Electrocardiogram (ECG)
What is an electrocardiogram (ECG)?
This test remains an indispensable part of all clinical cardiovascular testing procedures. An ECG is a printed recording of the electric impulses emitted by the heart. It is used to calculate the heart rate. It is absolutely essential in the diagnosis of coronary disease, especially myocarditis. It provides the means to detect the effects of a number of cardiovascular conditions (including high blood pressure), confirm the existence of heart murmurs and conduction, and to monitor the effects of certain medications.
