Medical Imaging

Radiology and Ultrasonography

Conventional medical imaging is provided in collaboration with the RADIOLOGIE PARIS OUEST (RPO) group as part of a GIE: the Medical Imaging Unit provides radiological and ultrasonography tests for hospitalised and out-patient adults and children either by appointment or as an emergency.

The unit is present at both sites of the Hôpital Franco-Britannique:

  • At 4 rue Kléber for general imaging services (radiology, arthrography and ultrasonography) for adult and paediatric hospitalised, consultation and emergency patients.

Tests can also be organised by appointment:

Medical reception & Appointments: 01 79 36 12 50

  • At 3, rue Barbès for imaging services for women and children:
    • Mammography, Galactography, Gynaecological and datation ultrasonography, Mammary micro-biopsies
    • Quantitative Computed Tomography
    • Paediatric imaging
    • Radiology – general and rheumatological ultrasonography

Medical reception & Appointments: 01 46 39 22 09

Radiography and ultrasonography guided interventions (biopsies, infiltrations, drainages etc.) are operated on both sites.

From now on ultrasound and/or on radiological procedures will be carried out following examinations on the corresponding site (Barbès, Kléber). Examinations for patients sent by A&E or within 48 hours following a consultation at HFB shall be carried out in sector 1. For non-urgent imaging examinations, excess fees can be requested, however, sector 1 will still remain accessible.

PLEASE NOTE: online payments are not possible

MRI and Scanners: a HFB-Hartmann collaboration

A GE CT scanner provides cross-section imaging for all medico-surgical pathologies and interventions. The system is located on the hospital’s ground floor near to the Medical Imaging Unit.

Since September 2014, the Unit also has a 1.5 Tesla MRI scanner furthering the imaging techniques available at HFB.

Half of the staff at the unit are radiologists of the Hôpital Franco-Britannique and the other half are radiologists from the Hartmann Medical Imaging Unit.

Sector 1 fees (no excess to social security coverage) remain applicable.

Medical reception & Appointments: Monday to Friday, from 8am to 8pm and Saturdays, from 2pm to 6pm

CT Scanner: 01 47 59 59 73 / MRI: 01 47 59 19 44

The medical imaging service works alongside specialist clinicians around three main axes: Imaging techniques for women and children patients:

  • Datation and gynaecological ultrasonography,
  • Standard radiology, mammography, pelvimetry, cystography…
  • CT scans, pelvi-scanner,
  • MRI scans including mammary, prostatic and pelvic MRI.

Emergency adult, paediatric, and new-born imaging:

  • Radiography (a technician present 24h/24) with interpretation of images in collaboration with the ER doctors.
  • Ultrasonography with availabilities outside normal working hours.

Diagnostic and screening imaging:

As well as the above imaging procedures, the staff can also complete the following:

  • Guided oncology biopsies,
  • Rheumatology infiltrations using standard radiology or ultrasonography,
  • CT Scanner and MRI

as well as:

  • Quantitative computed tomography for osteoporosis screening and full body exploration,
  • Digital breast cancer screening (flat sensor technique),

and other techniques:

  • Specialised ultrasonography, articulations, contrast ultrasonography.

The medical staff participate in the organisation of multi-specialisation meetings for the analysis of certain cases.

Operation of the Medical Imaging Unit

  • The data from the different techniques used is digitised and archived using a PACS (Synapse / Fuji system). These are kept during hospitalisation and can be consulted by the hospital’s doctors, subject to confidentiality regulations.
  • All test interpretations are computerised and attached to the case file after validation by a radiologist.
  • Radiological examinations, ultrasonography or CT scans of patients from specialist consultations or exterior to the hospital are delivered online with secure codes given to patients,
  • These documents are delivered immediately or after a specific period of time depending on the degree of emergency (never more than 48 hours) and archived using the PACS.
  • Appointments can be made via the receptions of either site or by telephone.
