Onco-genetics
At the heart of our profession
Oncogenetics is the study and treatment of the inherited risks associated with cancers.
It has three main objectives:
- Screening
- Prevention
- Individualised treatment
How?
Oncogentics consultations are provided by Prof. Pascal PUJOL (CHU Montpellier) at the Hôpital Franco-Britannique’s Cancerology building (Kléber site).
An oncogenetics consultation has a number of objectives:
- identify families that are at risk, and then identify the individuals most at risk.
- provide answers to patients who wish to understand the personal or familial background to their cancer.
- provide information on the risks of tumours
- guide patients towards the most suited type of treatment in terms of their risks of developing a cancer, both through screening, prevention or individualised treatment.
