Hospitalisation

Standard hospitalisation

1. Admissions formalities

On arrival you should go straight to the admissions office in the reception hall.

If you have been admitted via the emergency ward, during the weekend or outside of the admissions office opening hours, someone representing you should go there as soon as possible.

Please remember to bring the following documents:

  • Proof of identity with photo (ID card, passport, residency permit)
  • Your ‘Vitale’ card or proof of valid healthcare coverage
  • Your CMU/CMUC/AME certificate
  • Your proof of 100% coverage
  • Your valid top-up insurance card,
  • Your blood-group card (if you have one),
  • Your proof of application for coverage from your top-up insurance provider or private healthcare insurance provider (with details of the coverage).

Special cases:

  • For foreign nationals: your European health insurance card or E112 form or a private healthcare insurance certificate stating the validity period and the types of treatment covered. If you do not have French social security coverage, you will be asked to make an advance payment for 2, 3 or 4 days of hospitalisation depending on the ward or unit in which you will be hospitalised. This will be returned to you when you leave, after you have paid the invoice.
  • Senior citizens: our staff will help you to complete the formalities.

2. Departure formalities

Your departure date will be decided by the duty doctor (or the maternity ward mid-wife). All medical certificates, prescriptions and information related to your hospitalisation will be given to you when you leave and communicated to your designated GP.

Final procedures

You must go to the admissions office to formalise your departure. You will be given a statement of account and you should then pay the remaining balance of your hospitalisation fees.

Outside of opening hours, the administrative departure and invoicing will be completed later, the patient will receive the invoice and hospitalisation certificate to their home address.

The continuation of your treatment after leaving the hospital can be organised with your family, GP or one of the various home care organisations.

If you decide to leave the hospital without medical authorisation, once all of the medical consequences of your decision have been explained to you, you will be asked to sign a release form freeing the establishment from any responsibility for your decision.

Returning home:

The medical staff will decide on the best way for you to return home, and will provide you with all documents necessary for reimbursement.

The departure questionnaire:

Please complete the departure questionnaire for the ward or unit in which you were hospitalised, it is entirely anonymous and will help us to improve the quality of our service and consolidate our actions.
