Endocrinology-Diabetology-Nutrition
What is it?
The multi-disciplinary team includes:
- endocrinology, diabetology and nutrition specialists
- a team of dieticians
- psychologists
- specialised nurses
Within the hospital we work in close collaboration with the cardiovascular testing platform of the functional testing service, the radiology unit, the maternity (level 2) ward and the digestive tract surgery unit. Consequently we are able to treat endocrine gland related conditions: type 1 and 2 diabetes, gestational diabetes, thyroid, adrenal, pituitary gland related conditions and certain dietary conditions (obesity and associated complications).
How?
- Endocrinology, diabetology and nutrition consultations and bariatric surgery preparation consultations are available at the Kleber site.
- Gestational diabetes and maternity-associated thyroid disease consultations are available at the Barbés site or via teleconsultation.
- A personalised outpatient or hospitalisation treatment and therapy project based on therapy education programs developed within the department will be proposed:
- Short-stay hospitalisation: aetiological and diabetes impact testing, weight-loss tolerance after monitoring, endocrinology testing,
- Standard hospitalisation, 2.5 to 5 days, for the treatment of diabetes related complications and imbalances, for pre-bariatric surgery tests and/or therapeutic education.
Please contact us directly for emergency appointments or leave the referral letter from your GP at reception.
- By telephone: 01 47 59 18 97 / fax: 01 47 59 55 19
- By email: endocrino.diabeto.nutrition@ihfb.org
Priority emergency appointments are available.
Specific case for gestational diabetes:
1. Treating gestational diabetes
Specialised treatment for pregnant women is available via the Barbès site.
If you are diagnosed with diabetes, your gynaecologist or mid-wife will refer you to one of the gestational diabetes treatment introduction workshops that we propose every Friday afternoon. These are provided by a dietician, mid-wife and diabetologist. These information sessions and tests are all covered by the social security.
A further consultation will be organised two weeks after this introductory treatment program. Monitoring will continue throughout the pregnancy in the form of private or remote consultations.
2. Regarding other endocrine and nutritional conditions:
If you are pregnant and have symptoms related to diabetes (pre-dating your pregnancy), your thyroid gland, significant obesity (especially if you have undergone bariatric surgery): you can request an emergency appointment by writing to us at this email address: endocrino.diabeto.nutrition@ihfb.org
You can also have an appointment with a dietician if you will require specific nutritional support during your pregnancy (overweight, sudden weight increase, nutritional deficiencies).
